Wakanda African Wear Dinner, Show and Dance (29 June)

After last year’s amazingly successful Wakanda, we’re doing it all again on the 29th June in the plush and sumptuous setting of the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, Albert Embankment, SE1 7TJ.

Last year, was off the hook, with Wakanda fever still consuming all of us. It was only time before we had a Wakanda dance at the Royal Lounge and Daddy Ernie and his team had a brilliant idea for the dance. It was truly delightful to see so many men and women dressed so regally and majestically in an incredible of African wear. We’re looking for more of the same and better if possible this year.

Ebonyonline.net caught up with the popular and effervescent DJ of Vibes FM.net fame, for a low down on what we can expect this year.

EOL: Hi Daddy Ernie, good to see you must be busy planning your forthcoming dance?
DE: Yes certainly are it’s a challenge because lot’s of peeps say mi no have no African wear.

EOL: How did the idea for the Wakanda event come about, I presume it was inspired by the Black Panther film?
DE: Defo although I fell asleep during the film, I have always loved African wear. Very Royal.

EOL: Tell us what we can expect on the night?
DE: If last year is a marker it’s going to be very cultural lots of colour and some great entertainment. Angie Lamer while providing comedy, Chardel Rhoden & Papa Cook will be doing the PA.

EOL: Why the move to the luxurious Plaza Bank Riverbank Hotel, as last year it was at the Royal Lounge?
DE: I just thought after last year had so much glamour about it, it deserved an upgrade.

EOL: Which DJs are on the bill?
DE: Ans: Apart from myself we have a great line up: Quarter Dollar, 5th Avenue, Special Touch, Gaffa Blue
and the award-winning Country Man. All capable of a variety of music including Afro Beats

EOL: The costumes were amazing last year, are you hoping for more of the same this year?
DE: Oh yes the ladies really embraced the whole event men will respond.

EOL: Finally, can you give a sneak preview of your outfit, will be as grand as last year?
DE: Better, bigger and more magnificient. I think they’ll do the plush new setting justice. Looking forward to seeing all our elegant African Queens and noble Kings.
