Aaliyah’s Tale (17 Feb)

A night dedicated to showcasing Aaliyah Dana Haughton’s legendary albums in a ten-piece unique orchestra arrangement. Aaliyah’s Tale celebrates the highly talented vocalist and acknowledges her once again as one of the greatest talents in the history of R&B.

The Brooklyn born but Detroit raised singer actress shot onto the R&B charts with her debut album Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number. Produced by the mega successful singer R. Kelly, the platinum status album sold over a million copies.

Her second album One in a Million (1996) was produced by the legendry Timbaland and featured a track by rap artist Missy Misdemeanor and established her as a hip hop singer at the tender age of 17.

Aaliyah fame increased further when in 1997 when she recorded Journey to the Past, the Academy Award-nominated theme song to the animated feature Anastasia.

Her third album, Aaliyah, was released in 2001 and reached No. 2 on the Billboard album chart.

Tragically, Aaliyah was killed on August 25, 2001, along with her video crew when the small Cessna passenger plane she was in crashed and burst into flames shortly after take-off from Abaco Island in the Bahamas.

Yes, she may have passed on, but her influence and legacy still lives on in the hearts of many adoring soul fans. A nostalgic night ahead for die-hard fans and lovers of hip hop soul alike..
