Lead singer of the Young Disciples and the Brand New Heavies, Anderson has consistently produced amazing tunes that have endeared her to millions of fans worldwide.

Carleen Anderson describes her Cage Street Memorial as a ‘tribal opera’; a profound musing on identity and a deeply personal take on the last century. Following a heart-warming narrative, it features her original compositions drawing from Jazz, Soul and Gospel alongside spoken word – all enhanced by a band led by vibraphonist Orphy Robinson with digital image mapping backdrops including photos from the family album.

Born in Houston Texas, she is the daughter of the singer Vicki Anderson and stepdaughter of Bobby Byrd and is best known as lead singer of the 80s group Young Disciples as well as for her very successful solo career.

Known for her solo album True Spirit, the soul-singer’s own unique blend of jazz, soul and a touch of gospel often leaves her fans with tears flowing down their cheeks during her intimate performances.
