If you are looking to treat yourself to a night of exclusive funk music, then make it a date with the legendary George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic on Saturday the 13th of May 2017. George, nicknamed the Godfather of funk music has become a household name in the music scene; all thanks to his impressive and colorful career. But who would have imagined that what started in a barber’s shop will today become the definition of anything funk with well over 40 hit singles? This is the story of George Clinton. He started his group in his teens as The Parliament and together they came up with the hit single “(I Wanna) Testify” in 1967.

 

The merger of the Parliament and the Funkadelic gave birth to the amazing band, The Parliament Funkadelic. This band took funk music to a whole new level by exploring; various sounds, technology, and lyricism. In the process, George and The Parliament-Funkadelic dominated diverse music genre in the 1970s with well over 40 R&B hit singles. During this time, three of their singles made it to number one on the R&B chart while selling an astonishing three platinum albums in the process.

 

Clinton has produced and recorded with a staggering array of profile performers including Primal Scream, Outkast, Bootsy Collins, and RZA, even guesting on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp Like A Butterfly album in 2015.

 

Famed for “One Nation Under a Groove” and “Atomic Dog” and inspiring the likes of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Prince, Afrika Bambaataa and Macy Gray; to mentoring Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim and providing much of De La Soul and Snoop Dogg’s musical education; he is the single most sampled artist in musical history.

 

Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic released more than 40 R’n’B hit singles and three platinum albums during the 1970s and received an induction into the ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ in 1997, along with 15 other members of Parliament Funkadelic.

 

As a notable music producer, George Clinton has worked on almost all his albums while also producing albums for musicians like Bootsy Collins and Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. Today, George and the Parliament Funkadelic are indeed a force to reckon with in funk music industry; they have churned out smashing hits like “Computer Games,” “Loopzilla,” and “Atomic Dog.” In this show, expect the legendary George Clinton and the All-star Parliament Funkadelic to deliver to you the very best of funk music.
