Based on the music by Harold Arlen and the lyrics of Johnny Mercer, Blues in the Night is about to enjoy a revival after its last run at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1987 where it ran for an incredible ten months as well as being nominated for an Olivier award. The revue originally was staged by Sheldon Epps and Gregory Hines in March 1980, before moving to Broadway in 1982.

Acclaimed director Susie McKenna brings together a fine cast that includes the magnificent and highly talented Sharon D Clarke, who was recently seen in Death of a Salesman and Oliver award winner and one of the main characters in the hugely popular children’s tv drama Tracey Beaker.

Set in a late 30’s Chicago rundown hotel, the play spotlights the conversation between three women who happen to be in love with the same man. Their individual stories being told through soul-filled songs by blues and jazz icons Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen and many more.

With first-rate singers and a scorching mouth water selection of tunes and bags of previous awards, this is sure to be a stellar night of blue and soul night of the highest order. Book your tickets early as possible as this musical will surely be one of the hottest tickets in town,
